Cut Sheet Helper
Guide for processors

Running your cut sheet on Google Forms or Jotform

A form builder is a fine way to get a cut sheet off paper. It collects every choice and the customer's details, often for free. Where it breaks is everything after the form: per-pound charges on a weight you don't have yet, re-pricing at weigh-in, deposits, and split animals.

What a form builder does well

If you take a handful of animals a season at a fixed price each, that may be all you need. Start from our free cut sheet templates to decide the questions, then build them into the form.

Where it breaks for a processing shop

Per-pound charges on a weight you don't have yet
Cut and wrap is charged on hanging weight, which nobody knows until after slaughter. A form can show the rate, but it can't turn it into a bill later.
Re-pricing at weigh-in
When the weight comes in, every per-pound line has to be recalculated by hand, usually in a spreadsheet or on a calculator at the counter.
Deposits and balances
A form records a submission. It doesn't know what's been paid on that order or what's still owed at pickup.
Split halves and quarters
Two or four buyers on one animal means linked orders that share one weight but get separate bills. A form sees unrelated submissions.
Questions that depend on earlier answers
"Steaks per package" only makes sense if they chose steaks. Branching is possible in most builders but gets tangled fast on a 40-question beef sheet.
Status, bills and pickup notices
Ready, picked up, unpaid: you end up tracking that on a whiteboard or in another spreadsheet, and emailing bills one at a time.

The tools processors try

Google Forms
Free with a Google account. Good for collecting choices, with responses going to a Google Sheet. No prices or totals on the form itself.
Jotform
Free plan capped at 100 submissions a month and 5 forms (checked October 2026). Paid plans can add up fixed prices and take payments.
Wix, Squarespace and website forms
Handy if your website is already there. They work like the others: a list of answers in your inbox, with the math left to you.

A quick test: is a form enough for your shop?

A form builder is probably enough if all of these are true:

If you charge by hanging weight, sell halves and quarters, or take deposits, the form saves you the paper but not the work. You'll still do the math at the counter.

What cut sheet software adds

Cut Sheet Helper is built for exactly the part a form leaves you. Your sheet goes online with your prices on it, and customers see the total as they choose. When you enter the hanging weight, every per-pound charge re-prices. Halves and quarters are linked orders with their own bills, deposits are tracked against each order, and the bill and pickup notice go out under your shop's name. It's $20 a month, and we build your sheet from the one you have now. To see how other software compares, read our comparison of cut sheet software.

Common questions

Can I make a beef cut sheet in Google Forms?

Yes. Google Forms can collect every cut choice and the customer's contact details for free. It can't show prices or calculate a bill from the hanging weight.

Is Jotform good for a meat processing cut sheet?

Jotform works for collecting cut sheets and can total fixed prices on paid plans. Its free plan allows 100 submissions a month, and it can't re-price an order when the hanging weight comes in.

When is a free form builder enough for a cut sheet?

A free form is enough when every animal is a fixed price, splits are rare, and you're comfortable doing the per-pound math and tracking payments yourself.

What does cut sheet software do that a form doesn't?

Cut sheet software prices the order from your rates, re-prices it when you enter the hanging weight, splits one animal into linked orders, and tracks deposits, bills and pickup.
